As a kind of natural stone, cobble stone is formed from the sandstone generated during the uplift of old river bed after crustal movement millions of years ago, and it has gone through constant extrusion and attrition during the impact of torrential floods and running water. The major chemical components of cobblestone are silicon dioxide, a small amount of ferric oxide, little manganese, copper, aluminium and magnesium, and other compounds. Cobblestones are widely applied in public building, villa, courtyard, road pavement, park rockery, bonsai filling material, gardening arts, and other high-rise buildings. Besides, cobblestones provide high-quality materials for water purifying, sewage disposal, electrical power, and garden construction. They provide raw and auxiliary materials for ceramics, precision casting, paper making, abrasive blasting, chemical industry, monocrystalline silicon, and national defense, etc.

Cobblestoned and settled streets gradually gave way to macadam roads, and later to tarmac, and finally to asphalt at the beginning of the 20th century. However, cobble¬stones are often retained in historic areas, even for streets with modern vehicular traffic. Many older villages and cities in Europe are still paved with cobblestones. In recent decades, cobblestones have become a popular material for paving newly pedestrian’s streets in Europe. In this case, the noisy nature of the surface is an advantage as pedestrians can hear approaching vehicles.

In order to crush cobblestones, we recommend customers to use Zenith’s crushing equipment, such as jaw crushing plant (jaw crusher), new impact crusher, and Symons cone crusher, etc. Cobblestones are sent into jaw crusher for primary crushing through the vibrating feeder. After primary crushing, the cobblestones fall into impact crusher or cone crusher for secondary crushing or fine crushing. Finally, the materials can be screened out into the proper cobblestone particles for the use of building materials through the vibrating screen. The cobblestone particles that do not meet the standard will be sent to the crusher again for re-crushing. High-efficiency cobblestone crusher adopts the proper crushing chamber and crushing principle of lamination, thus increasing the cube proportion of finished products and meanwhile decreasing the needle-like cobblestones.
